Fiber Conditioner

With some SPME fibers, a high temperature is necessary to desorb high boiling residues completely. Often the GC injector cannot be set to a high enough temperature because a column with a low temperature limit is installed. Using the SPME Fiber Conditioning Station the user can clean the fiber after desorption in a separate dedicated heating station. During this cleaning process the fiber can be heated up to 350°C and is purged with an inert gas flow. In a second heated and purged port a new fiber can be prepared already offline for following analyses. The cleaning process can be performed after every injection using the method parameter bakeout time, or after completion of a whole job queue by adding an extra cleaning job.

The PAL Fiber Conditioning Station is used together with the PAL SPME option to clean the SPME fiber between different runs or sequences. This optional cleaning station helps to keep clean the GC Injection port and the analytical column. The fiber is inserted into a heated and purged (He or N2) steel capillary tube for a predefined time period. A second cleaning port is available to prep ahead new fibers.(see diagram above) The cleaning station is fully controlled with the COMBI PAL local firmware[1] and can be operated with or without a separate control software[2].

Special Note

Requires COMBI PAL with CTC regulator and uses the PAL AUX port

LEAP strives to find total solutions for analytical lab automation by automating analytical processes for small and large molecules in extracted liquids, solids, and recently in human, animal and plant tissues. We provide the precise robotics and efficient sample prep required by modern measurement techniques such as MALDITOF mass spectroscopy. Our newest specialty customization of CTC Analytics’ PAL features small workstations that can perform complex liquid handling tasks including HPLC-Purification, SPE, filtration, weighing, heating and stirring. They can be configured as stand alone units or integrated for “just in time” sample prep for LC-MS or GC-MS analysis.
LEAP provides automated workstation instrumentation solutions based on the LEAP CTC PAL X, Y, Z syringe only autosampler robot from LEAP Technologies. This extremely flexible, precise, and adaptable liquid handling robotic platform is available in a variety of lengths and options depending on the requirements of your sample preparation and injections for your UHPLC, LC or GC chromatography.LEAP offers full support and service for the PAL platform in addition to being able to write custom macros, cycles, and scheduling to your applications. Please contact LEAP Technologies on how we can help you get maximized throughput with flexible pipetting automation solutions.
